NHS Evidence accredited provider
BHIVA guidelines accredited by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)
We are delighted to announce that the process used by the British HIV Association to produce its UK national guidelines has been accredited by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). Accreditation is valid for five years from July 2012 and is retrospectively applicable to guidance produced using the processes described in the 2011 BHIVA guideline development manual. All guidance produced following the accredited process is eligible to bear the Accreditation Mark.

The Accreditation Advisory Committee recognised that the processes used to produce the British HIV Association UK national guidelines are rigorous, transparent and systematic. Individuals from all relevant stakeholder groups including patients are involved in developing guidance. The methods of balancing benefits and risks in developing the recommendations are well described, as well as the process for updating, maintaining and improving the quality of the guidance and the process of external peer review.

BHIVA would like to congratulate all involved on achieving this excellent standard of guideline development; the Accreditation Advisory Committee agreed that this was an easy decision to make, largely due to the quality of the processes used by the British HIV Association to produce UK national guidelines.
