BHIVA awards a number of conference scholarships to help researchers, community representatives and other delegates attend the BHIVA annual autumn and spring conferences.
BHIVA Science Scholarships
BHIVA Science Scholarships are awarded to researchers studying for a PhD or MD and who have an abstract accepted for presentation at the annual BHIVA conference in the spring. Up to 10 scholarships are awarded and cover the cost of conference registration fees, and a contribution towards travel expenses and accommodation costs.
BHIVA Community Registrations and Scholarships
BHIVA Community Scholarships are awarded to 10 UK-based community registrants to attend the annual BHIVA conference in the spring. The scholarships cover the cost of conference registration fees and a contribution towards expenses and accommodation costs. In addition, BHIVA also supports the registration fees for approximately 30 community representatives to attend both the spring and autumn conference.
Abbott Travel Scholarships in collaboration with BHIVA and the St Stephen’s AIDS Trust
The Abbott travel scholarships support four doctors working in the field of HIV from resource-poor countries to travel to the UK for training purposes and to attend the BHIVA annual spring conference. The objective is to increase their understanding of the treatment and management of HIV, and to disseminate this information and experience when they return to their country of origin. The project is administered in collaboration with BHIVA and the St Stephen’s AIDS Trust.
MSD Limited Travel Bursary Scholarships in collaboration with BHIVA
MSD will be providing travel scholarships to UK-based newly-appointed consultants (within first 5 years of appointment) and non-consultant healthcare professionals (including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and non-clinical researchers) who are either training or working in the field of HIV medicine. Applicants need to be current members of the British HIV Association. The value of each scholarship is capped at a maximum of £1,000 and is a contribution towards an award winner’s registration fee, travel and accommodation expenses for the forthcoming XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna on 18–23 July 2010. There will be a maximum of 17 awards available. The deadline is 22 January 2010. Successful applicants will be notified during the week commencing 8 February 2010, and prior to the IAS 2010 early registration deadline (24 February 2010).
Please note that this scholarship is for attendance at the XVIII International AIDS Conference - it does not relate to a BHIVA Conference
