Multi-guideline CPD 2017 (E-Learning Module 8)

Introduction

Participation is for BHIVA Members only.  If you are not a member of BHIVA, please click here to find out more about Membership.

Previous CPD was based on one guideline at a time. However this does not reflect the complex problems that a patient may present with over several years which require a working knowledge of important standards from several guidelines.

Therefore BHIVA has designed a new E-Learning Module based on the following guidelines:

  • BHIVA UK National Guidelines for HIV Testing 2008
  • BHIVA, BASHH and FSRH guidelines for the management of sexual and reproductive health of people living with HIV infection 2008; European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) Guidelines v8.0 2015
  • BHIVA and BIA guidelines for the treatment of Opportunistic Infection in HIV-seropositive Individuals 2011
  • BHIVA guidelines for HIV-associated malignancies 2014
  • BHIVA guidelines on the use of vaccines in HIV-positive adults 2015
  • BHIVA guidelines for the treatment of HIV-1-positive adults with antiretroviral therapy 2015 (2016 interim update)
  • BHIVA guidelines for the routine investigation and monitoring of adult HIV-1-infected individuals 2016

As this is a new development, your feedback will be most appreciated. BHIVA will also continue to produce E-Learning Modules based on specific guidelines.

Objectives

Participants are expected to be familiar with or have read the main recommendations of the guidelines listed above.

On completion of this module, participants will be able to describe and explain the rationale for:

  • Indications for HIV testing
  • Monitoring of the newly –diagnosed patient with HIV infection
  • ART options after HIV diagnosis and when failing treatment

  • The management of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) infection at diagnosis and when failing treatment
  • Conception advice for HIV-positive people in sero-concordant or sero-discordant relationships
  • Investigation for suspected HIV-associated lymphoma and management

-  It is expected that it should take each participant approximately 3 hours to refresh their knowledge of various BHIVA guidelines and answer all 10 questions.
-  There is a time limit of 2 hours to answer all questions once you have started.
-  There is also a form for you to provide feedback at the end, which must be completed within this time.
-  Once you have completed the feedback form, you will immediately be taken to a page showing your results.
-  The pass rate is 65% and if successful, you will be sent a certificate.

In order to obtain RCP CPD accreditation for BHIVA e-learning modules, participants are now requested to access the RCP self-accreditation site and enter their CPD points (3 hours = 3 CPD points).
