Dr IG Williams

Chair
Dr Ian Williams is a Senior Lecturer at University College London and an Honorary Consultant Physician at Camden PCT and University College London Hospitals. He has extensive clinical and research experience in HIV medicine. He has previously been a member of the BHIVA Executive Committee from 1996-2003 since and served as Honorary Treasurer of the Association from 2000-2003. Dr Williams was re-elected to the Executive Committee in 2006 and sits on the Education and Scientific and Guidelines Subcommittees and the Website Working Group. He was elected Chair-Elect in September 2007 and took over the role of Chair from Professor Johnson at the BHIVA 14th Annual Conference in April 2008.
Dr EGL Wilkins

Treasurer
Dr Ed Wilkins is Consultant and Clinical Director of Infectious Diseases at North Manchester General Hospital. Prior to taking up his current position, he trained in infectious diseases in London and Liverpool, tropical medicine in Africa and medical microbiology with the Public Health Laboratory Service. Dr Wilkins has been involved with HIV patient care and research since 1986 with interests in antiretroviral toxicity, hepatitis co-infection and the investigation of treatment strategies. He is involved in many executive and advisory national committees including BHIVA. He was elected as BHIVA Treasurer in January 2005 for a 3-year term. Dr Wilkins sits on the Audit and Standards and Conferences Subcommittees.
Dr MJ Fisher

Secretary
Dr Martin Fisher is a Consultant in HIV/GUM in Brighton, having previously worked in four different London units. Dr Fisher follows a large cohort of HIV outpatients, provides specialist inpatient HIV care, leads a research unit (with interests in antiretroviral therapy, PHI and STI/HIV interactions) and convenes the Diploma in HIV Medicine. He was elected as BHIVA Secretary in 2006 for a 3-year term. Dr Fisher chairs the Guidelines Subcommittee on Toxicity and also sits on the Education and Scientific and Guidelines Subcommittees.

Professor J Anderson
Professor Jane Anderson is Director of the Centre for the Study of Sexual Health and HIV, and Honorary Consultant at the Homerton University Hospital in London. Professor Anderson has particular clinical and research interests in HIV infection in migrant populations and in women and families. Her wide-ranging work engages with the current medical, social, ethical and legal challenges posed by HIV, with the determination that has developed from extensive clinical and research work undertaken, often with voluntary sector collaboration, in diverse communities in east London. Professor Anderson sits on the BHIVA Audit and Standards and Conferences Subcommittees.
Dr D Asboe
Dr David Asboe is a Consultant Physician at Chelsea and Westminster and West Middlesex Hospitals. Dr Asboe is Deputy-convener for the Diploma in HIV Medicine, founding editorial board member journal HIV Clinical Trials, a reviewer for several other journals and co-principal investigator for the MRC FORTE study. His clinical and research interests include ARV resistance and the sexual health of HIV-positive individuals. Within BHIVA, Dr Asboe sits on the Education and Scientific and Guidelines Subcommittees.
Dr SG Edwards
Dr Simon Edwards has gained experience as Lead HIV Clinician at a busy centre over the past several years and he is fully committed to the provision of high-quality patient-friendly services. Dr Edwards has been a member of BHIVA since its inception and sits on the Education and Scientific and Guidelines Subcommittees.
Dr S Fidler
Dr Sarah Fidler is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College School of Medicine at St Mary's. She has fifteen years experience of both clinical and academic aspects of HIV medicine. Dr Fidler contributes a perspective bridging the delivery of clinical care and academic expertise and strongly supports the development of initiatives in the developing world.
Dr AR Freedman
Dr Andrew Freedman has been a Senior Lecturer/Consultant in Infectious Diseases at Cardiff University since 1994 and worked in HIV/AIDS since 1986. He was also on the Department of Health Expert Advisory Group on AIDS until 2006. Dr Freedman is on the BHIVA Audit and Standards, and Education and Scientific subcommittees.
Dr AM Geretti
Dr Anna Maria Geretti is a Consultant Virologist who aspires to bridging laboratory and clinical work focusing on antiretroviral therapy, hepatitis and genital herpes. She has trained in virology, HIV Medicine, GU Medicine and Immunology in the UK, Netherlands and Italy and holds a PhD in HIV Immunology. Within BHIVA, Dr Geretti has recently chaired the Guidelines Subcommittee on Immunisation, she chairs the Conferences Subcommittee and also sits on the Education and Scientific Subcommittee.
Dr MR Nelson
Dr Mark Nelson is HIV Service Director of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He is on the BHIVA Opportunistic Infections (Joint Chair), Hepatitis C/HIV (Chair) and Toxicity (Co-chair) Guidelines Writing Groups. He is Head of International Development for St Stephens AIDS Trust and Trustee of the International Collaboration for Health Equality for All (ICEHA).
Dr C O'Mahony
Dr Colm O’Mahony has been a GUM Consultant at Chester for 15 years. Dr O’Mahony runs an almost open-access service, including about 100 HIV-positive patients. He was Assistant Secretary, Secretary then Chairman of the Association of Genito-Urinary Medicine (AGUM) and, along with colleagues, steered AGUM & MSSVD to an amicable merger. Dr O’Mahony sits on the BHIVA Audit and Standards and Conferences Subcommittees.
Miss N Perry
Miss Nicky Perry has worked in HIV since 1988 and has in-patient, out-patient and clinical research nursing experience in London, Sydney and Brighton. She has been involved with the National HIV Nurses Association since 1997 and brings nurse representation to the BHIVA Executive Committee. Miss Perry sits on the Conferences and Guidelines Subcommittees.
Dr A Pozniak
Dr Anton Pozniak started caring for HIV patients in 1983 and is currently Consultant at the HIV/GUM Research Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. He has had a long involvement with BHIVA especially in helping writing guidelines and documents. He is an active physician and researcher with particular interests in TB and salvage therapy. He serves on several national and international committees and charity boards.
Dr M Youle
Dr Mike Youle has pursued his special interest in HIV medicine, specifically in therapy for advanced disease, since 1986. He is Director of HIV Clinical Research at the Royal Free Centre for HIV Medicine, and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Public Health and General Medicine at the Royal Free and UCMS. His research interests include HIV treatment, comprising novel antiretrovirals and immunotherapy, as well as new therapeutic strategies. He is Secretary of the European AIDS Clinical Society. Within BHIVA, Dr Youle sits on the Education and Scientific and Guidelines Subcommittees.

Dr C Orkin
Dr Chloe Orkin works St Bartholomew’s Hospital and, within NELNET, she provides network-wide clinical leadership in HIV oncology and antiretroviral resistance. She has established a vibrant research unit and has an interest in education and training with clinical experience from London and Southern Africa. As a Consultant within the first 5 years of appointment, Dr Orkin represents the interests of both non-consultant doctors and newly appointed consultants.

Mr G Cairns
Mr Fergus (Gus) Cairns is a member of the UK Community Advisory Board (UK-CAB). He is a freelance journalist specialising in HIV, sexuality, healthcare, development and related matters and a group facilitator and trainer on these issues. He is also a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor. Former Editor-in-Chief of Positive Nation, the UK's HIV/AIDS and sexual health magazine, he has recently returned to the magazine as its Treatments Editor. For NAM Publications, Gus has edited the HIV Reference Manual and Preventing HIV. For BHIVA, Mr Cairns sits on the Audit and Standards and Conferences Subcommittees.
Dr DH Dockrell
Dr David Dockrell is an Infectious Disease consultant at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, a Wellcome Trust Senior Clinical Fellow and Reader in Infectious Diseases at the University of Sheffield. His clinical interests focus on pulmonary infection and immunology. Dr Dockrell is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin. He sits on the BHIVA Education and Scientific and Guidelines Subcommittees.
Dr ELC Ong
Dr Ed Ong is a Consultant Physician/Honorary Senior Lecturer in Medicine at Newcastle General Hospital, Health Protection Agency Honorary Consultant, an NHS Independent Clinical Assessor, Regional Advisor/Programme Director in Infectious Diseases, and Diploma in HIV Medicine Examiner and is on the MRC College of Experts. He has been principal investigator in numerous clinical HIV trials and is published widely. Dr Ong is on the Audit and Standards and Education and Scientific Subcommittees.
