World AIDS Day 2016

Date: Wednesday 30 November 2016

Venue: Curzon Soho, London

Introduction

BHIVA, in collaboration with its affiliated organisations, organised an event to mark World AIDS Day 2016. The event included a screening of the Oscar nominated film 'How to Survive a Plague' and a Q&A with one of the stars of the film, American HIV/AIDS-LGBT rights activist Peter Staley. The screening of 'AIDS: Doctors and Nurses Tell Their Story' also took place at this event. This event has been accredited with 2 CPD points by the Royal College of Physicians.

The venue for the screening was Curzon Soho, which is one of London's flagship arthouse cinemas located in Soho in the West End of London. The event was of great educational benefit, particularly to younger colleagues who may not have been fully be aware of the activist movement in the 1980s and '90s.
