Introduction

The British HIV Association in collaboration with the British Association for the Study of the Liver (BASL) and the British Viral Hepatitis Group (BVHG) held a one-day national conference to bring together those directly involved in the care of HIV-infected patients co-infected with hepatitis B or C, as well as those who have a clinical or research interest in the epidemiology, natural history or basic science of viral hepatitis. This was the fifth year that the conference took place at One Great George Street Conference Centre in London. The conference was, as usual, followed by the BHIVA Autumn Conference on 4–5 October 2012, just around the corner, at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre.
