BHIVA Guideline Development Manual

Aims and structure of the guideline development manual

This guideline framework document replaces the previous guidance for BHIVA guideline development first agreed in 2007 and last updated in 2021.

The main aims of this framework document are:

• To combine the range of improvements introduced into the guideline development process in recent years into a single document
• To develop a reference tool for current and future writing groups and writing group chairs
• To summarise the guideline process for all users of the guidance but especially for members of BHIVA, stakeholders, patients and partner agencies

Review and update of the guideline development manual

It is planned that this manual will be updated at least every 3 years by the BHIVA Guidelines Subcommittee subject to ratification by the Executive Committee.
